Synopsis

Because everyone hungers for something...
Food and Sex: two appetites the modern world stimulates, but also the ones we are expected to keep under control. But what happens when we don't?

Embarking on an affair, lonely wife and mother Naomi blossoms sexually in a false spring while David, the fattest boy at the local comprehensive and best friend of her son, struggles to overcome bullying and the apathy of his divorced mother.

David finally starts to learn about the mechanisms of appetite through a science project set by his intelligent but jaded teacher, Matthew. David's brave efforts to change himself open Matthew's eyes to his activist girlfriend's dangerous plans to blow up VitSip, a local energy-drink company where Naomi works.

At the mercy of their appetites, this exciting debut novel shows that some hungers can never be satisfied.

thoughts

Appetite is definitely a different story I have ever read. Honestly, I have no idea on how should I lay my words here about this book because it wasn't a book that I usually read, it was something more complex. A book that covers real-life events which is surprisingly good and at the same time, the author has delivered the story in the most definite way.

In this story, there are multiple points of views which are views from David, an overweight boy who been bullied by his high school friends and only to overcome the sadness, pressure, anger is by eating. Next, we have Naomi who is a lonely wife and looking for something more in her life. While Matthew is David's teacher has back from a trip to Brazil that gives him an idea to launch a project which affects(make a difference to)  him and to his students.

Appetite is a good book that told us that sometimes the life we have does not enough that makes you craving for more, to change, to have and to want it in our life. How people see is not what they do actually know.

The author has successfully covered many real-life topics that occur in our everyday life whether we do realize it or we choose not to care about it. Either bullying, overweight issues, sex, affair and more.

One thing I can tell you here is read this with an open mind because it does give us a thought in our mind. It makes you think a lot about everything in our life. It is definitely an amazing thought-provoking book and totally recommended for you to read Appetite by Anita Cassidy.

I am a writer, a relationship radical, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt and a friend. I am also a lover of old books, new music and (mostly) clean food. Whilst I understand the limitations of labels, I do identify as bi-sexual, polyamorous and kinky. Above all else, I am curious about everything: about life, about learning, and about love.
